Jimmy Kimmel is continuing his comedic jabs at Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, dismissing pressure from the White House and calls for his removal from television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his Monday, 4 May broadcast, Kimmel mocked the president\u2019s late-night activity on Truth Social, highlighting a photo Trump shared of his wife.
\u201cAt 11:04, he posted this even more unbelievable picture of Melania smiling,\u201d Kimmel joked, drawing laughter from the audience, before adding, \u201cI don\u2019t know the last time we saw that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also referenced Trump\u2019s weekend remarks at a Florida retirement community, where the president said Melania \u201chates\u201d when he dances on stage to \u201cY.M.C.A.\u201d by Village People, which Trump described as \u201cthe gay national anthem.\u201d
\u201cMelania hates when you do things? No way!\u201d Kimmel quipped. \u201cWhat a buzzkill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between Kimmel and the White House. The controversy began after a 23 April episode in which he described Melania as having \u201ca glow like an expectant widow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two days later, a gunman breached security during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. The suspect, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, was charged with attempting to assassinate the president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Melania, who attended the event, issued a rare public statement ahead of the court proceedings, directly criticizing Kimmel. Writing on X, she said, \u201cPeople like Kimmel shouldn\u2019t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate\u2026 Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
White House communications director Steven Cheung also condemned Kimmel, calling him a \u201cterrible human being\u201d and urging his immediate dismissal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kimmel defended his earlier comment as an \u201cobvious\u201d joke about the age difference between the president, 79, and the first lady, 56. He also expressed sympathy for those at the dinner, saying the incident was \u201ctraumatic and scary,\u201d even though no one was killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump later responded during an appearance on Newsmax, calling Kimmel \u201ca lowlife\u201d and arguing he should not be on television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dispute has added to broader pressure on ABC and its parent company The Walt Disney Company. The Federal Communications Commission recently ordered a review of ABC\u2019s station licenses, citing an investigation into potential violations of federal law and broadcasting rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
