Jimmy Kimmel roasts Donald, Melanie Trump even after a warning
Jimmy Kimmel has received a warning over joking about Donald, Melanie Trump
Jimmy Kimmel is continuing his comedic jabs at Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, dismissing pressure from the White House and calls for his removal from television.
During his Monday, 4 May broadcast, Kimmel mocked the president’s late-night activity on Truth Social, highlighting a photo Trump shared of his wife.
“At 11:04, he posted this even more unbelievable picture of Melania smiling,” Kimmel joked, drawing laughter from the audience, before adding, “I don’t know the last time we saw that.”
He also referenced Trump’s weekend remarks at a Florida retirement community, where the president said Melania “hates” when he dances on stage to “Y.M.C.A.” by Village People, which Trump described as “the gay national anthem.”
“Melania hates when you do things? No way!” Kimmel quipped. “What a buzzkill.”
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between Kimmel and the White House. The controversy began after a 23 April episode in which he described Melania as having “a glow like an expectant widow.”
Two days later, a gunman breached security during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. The suspect, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, was charged with attempting to assassinate the president.
Melania, who attended the event, issued a rare public statement ahead of the court proceedings, directly criticizing Kimmel. Writing on X, she said, “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate… Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand.”
White House communications director Steven Cheung also condemned Kimmel, calling him a “terrible human being” and urging his immediate dismissal.
Kimmel defended his earlier comment as an “obvious” joke about the age difference between the president, 79, and the first lady, 56. He also expressed sympathy for those at the dinner, saying the incident was “traumatic and scary,” even though no one was killed.
Trump later responded during an appearance on Newsmax, calling Kimmel “a lowlife” and arguing he should not be on television.
The dispute has added to broader pressure on ABC and its parent company The Walt Disney Company. The Federal Communications Commission recently ordered a review of ABC’s station licenses, citing an investigation into potential violations of federal law and broadcasting rules.
