PSL 11: Babar Azam fails to surpass Fakhar's all-time record after duck in final
Babar holds record for scoring 500-plus runs four times in PSL history
Babar Azam, captain of Peshawar Zalmi, was dismissed for a duck in the PSL 11 final against Hyderabad Kingsmen at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, falling just short of Fakhar Zaman’s record for most runs in a single season.
The right-handed batter entered the high-stakes final needing just one run to surpass Zaman’s landmark tally. However, he was dismissed without scoring, missing out on a historic milestone.
Previously, Zaman—representing Lahore Qalandars—set the record in the 2022 edition, amassing 588 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 152.72, including seven half-centuries and one century.
Babar, meanwhile, equalled that tally in just 11 innings, scoring at an outstanding average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 145.90. His season included two centuries and three half-centuries.

His 57-ball century was his second of the season, making him only the second batter in PSL history to score two centuries in a single edition—joining Usman Khan, who achieved the feat in PSL 9 for Multan Sultans.
